Invalidation of Old Form of Smart Identity Card

The Government announced on 18 June 2024 that the old form of smart identity cards issued before 26 November 2018 (old ID cards), will be invalidated in two phases in 2025.

The detailed invalidation schedule of the old ID cards is as follows –

Year of Birth Effective date of Invalidation
Phrase I 1970 or after 12 May 2025
Phrase II 1969 or before 12 October 2025

With effect from the respective invalidation dates of the above-mentioned two phases, for all licence or service applications submitted to the Radiation Health Division of the Department of Health, the applicants or service recipients should submit or produce their new identity cards issued on or after 26 November 2018 / its copy or other valid identification documents for identity verification.
