Importation of radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus

Importation of radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus into Hong Kong are subject to the control of the Import (Radiation) (Prohibition) Regulations, Chapter 60K, Laws of Hong Kong. An import licence issued by the Director-General of Trade and Industry under Chapter 60K is required for the importation of radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus.

Any person who imports radioactive substances and irradiating apparatus into Hong Kong without an import licence issued under Chapter 60K shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of $10,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year.

Application for import licence under Chapter 60K can be made to the Radiation Health Unit, Department of Health.
