The completion of the above training courses has been approved by the Radiation Board Licensing Committee as qualification for attaining the necessary level of competency on radiological protection for purposes relating to granting of licences under the Radiation Ordinance (Cap. 303, Laws of Hong Kong).  Apart from these training courses, the Radiation Board Licensing Committee has approved the qualifications as listed in the second column of the following tables for the purposes of granting licences subject to the specific scopes of recognition as shown in the third column.

According to ASNT’s SNT-TC-1A[5] with

  • Level 3 certified personnel for Level 1 personnel

ASNT’s recommended practice no. SNT-TC-1A for radiographic testing –

    (2) to use hand-held X-ray machine (X-ray fluorescence analyser) to conduct onsite material testing

According to ASNT’s SNT-TC-1A[5] with

  • Level 3 certified personnel for Level 2 personnel
  • Level 3 personnel certified by ASNT[6]

ASNT’s recommended practice no. SNT-TC-1A for radiographic testing –

Levels 2 and 3 certified

  • user under IA licence (1) to use X-ray machine to perform industrial radiography or

    (2) to use hand-held X-ray machine (X-ray fluorescence analyser) to conduct onsite material testing

  • supervising person under RS Licence (1) for performing industrial radiography or    (2) for conducting onsite material testing by using X-ray fluorescence analyser

[4] Cyclotrons shall be licenced by the Radiation Board first before their importation into Hong Kong for local use.
